Oil Leak
« on: 01 July 2019, 19:47 »
I had an oil leak on my GTI in May (purchased new in Dec 2018) and had work carried out under warranty by Inchcape.  The job sheet states...Replaced Clutch Cover and Gear Oil Pump.  Just checking over the underside of the car today and I notice oil has appeared in exactly the same place as before.
Will contact Inchcape tomorrow but just wondered whether anyone else has suffered this problem as I am beginning to lose a little confidence in the car and wondered what reaction I would receive from the dealer if I requested a new car in exchange.
Thanks

You'd need a much more serious and extensive list of problems and lack of rectification before you'd stand a chance of getting another vehicle, if at all.

Sorry to say this...

It should be readily fixable though, maybe if you still have the problem after this time, try taking it to another dealership or even the same one but different branch... not all mechanics are equal.

Thanks for the response Fred.
Just out of interest how does it work with VWUK when the dealer has to revisit the same job twice due it failing the first time?  I observed the cost on the job sheet and it neared £3k for parts and labour so does this mean a second attempt at correction is at the dealers expense?

Exactly. It's Volkswagen. £3k isn't going to be anything. Even the dealerships take enough to cover that, considering the fact that not every car will come back
