I can't for the life of me think what they're called :undecided:. I'm pretty sure they're early standard 16v rims, a mate from work has a set on his L reg 16v, not in as good condition as those though .

Would you mind asking your mate if he knows the name of them?
I really want to get my hands on some....

I go back on shift friday, I'll ask if I see him, we work in different departments now but I do see him about occasionally.

That's one smart looking Mk3 in the pics you posted .

Cheers dude, appreciate it.
It is a well smart example isn't it, shame the garage were a bunch of con merchants...they wanted £4995 for it.

I went to see it cos it looked so good, but they didn't even have the car in stock (its still on the website, so they might have it now). They got me another one in to look at, but it was well tired - so didn't bother and bought a GTI 8v elsewhere instead..shame really, would have loved a VR6.

Haven't managed to see him to soeak to him today, but i did do a bit of a search on the web. I didn't find exactly the wheel you pictured, but I did come across something very similar but slightly more recent in the VAG range called SPEEDLINE II :undecided:. So whether the ones you are after are just called SPEEDLINE, I don't know.

I will try and get hold of my mate and ask him, but it's hit and miss. You could try asking at the parts department at your local VAG dealer. I did this a couple of years ago when I had a Volvo 850 and wanted to see how much a set of T5 rims would cost _ silly money!, but they had a catalogue with almost every single Volvo alloy wheel and trim you could think of. Different make of car I know but I'd be surprised if VW didn't have the same info. at hand.

Give it a go mate, you'll know for definite what you're after at least, then trawl ebay and free ads etc for a bargain .

As for £4995 for a mk3 - even a nice one - thats a bit steep. Yes a lot of motor traders are con merchants, they probably paid less than half that for the mk3 they wanted to sell you. Some traders are better than others, but they're all in it to make money out of you, especially when you trade in .

For the record, I finally bumped in to my mate with the 16v yesterday. Sorry but he doesn't know what they are called (that doesn't suprise me, but there was no harm in asking, if a little late), but they are definitely standard. I have seen them on other early 16v's .

Did you have any luck finding out elsewhere?

No mate, can't find them anywhere...thanks for asking your mate and stuff.

I might sell the Golf anyway, need more economy cos thinking of getting a job further away from home - so might need a diesel.
