Servicing confusion

Booked in for major service only to be told it didn't need it because it had an interim service in September 3,000 miles ago.
So why was the car asking to be serviced if it didn't need it? Any ideas?

I suspect that when you had it serviced last time, the dealer forgot to reset the service indicator.

They've reset the service indicator and carried out the brake fluid change as requested.

Would they normally reset both service indicator on an interim service?

But by resetting them both you'd always hit the oil change service before the inspection?

depends what schedule you are on. anyway its easy to turn off yourself, dealer doesn't have to. I can't remember off hand, but its a key press on start up.
