Service light and wind mirrors
« on: 11 October 2005, 12:09 »
Hi peeps

The MK4 is due a service in a few weeks as it keeps beeping. Can this be reset early? If so how do i do it?

The wind mirror switch is crap too. If i select 'Right' and adjust the mirror, the left side moves aswel?
I have been working at the car auction and all the bora's and mk4's seem to have this problem

I did a diagnosis check and it came up with faulty heater elements in the mirrors.

anyone have this prob?

to rest the service warning i think its as follows....

hold down the reset button for the tripometer with ignition off, wait 3-5 seconds then turn ignition on, then i think you should have '---' or similar showing, then you just turn the clock adjust button to the right or to the left i think then trun the ignition off, then its aall done no more bleepin and stuff for another 10k miles, ill have a look as there is a correct procedure somewhere and thats all i can remember off the top of me head...

not sure about the mirrors blue, havent had and bother with mine as of yet

Re-setting the service computer is definately in my hand book.  If not, the good old haynes manual also sets out the procedure.  Like Kniterider, I have never heard of, or suffered from the mirror problem!

I had the same 'problem' with the wing mirror adjustment knob.  I went to the stealership and they said that this is how they are meant to work!  I think it may even say this in the manual. Apparantly this is so that when someone else drives the car it's quicker to adjust, because using the switch in the 'right' position will cause the wing mirrors to either angle 'in' or angle 'out'.

Sounds like bollox to me
