Time for me to say hello…
« on: 26 June 2018, 20:54 »
Well, the I have had a 7R for the last 4 years but now it has gone and because I could not order a 7.5R manual, I now have a 7.5 GTi PP.

Spec:
Altlantic Blue
19” Santiago wheels
Keyless Entry
DCC

The GTi feels so different. It feels lighter, but otherwise drives as good as the R and other Golfs. It is early days yet as I have only driven 80 miles in it and not been able to open it up.

The exhaust sound is totally different, if anything slightly louder than the R. But saying that it lacks the grunt of the R. I am enjoying the updated tech and I have to admit that the GTi does look sportier than the R.

Anyway, I have joined this forum now and just wanted to say how much I am looking forward to enjoying it and also the having the benefits from the knowledge base of the forum members.
Current: 2024 Golf GTI 8.5. Oyster Silver metallic black, black roof, Queenstown alloys, DCC, HK, spare wheel

Gone: 2018 Golf GTI 7.5 performance pack, Atlantic Blue, Santiago alloys, DCC.
Gone: 2014 Golf R, Lapiz Blue, Vienna leather, DCC.
Gone: 2011 Golf GTi, Reflex Silver.

Hello and welcome

Welcome!

I would also like to know this because I can’t decide whether to get an R next or stick with a GTI.

That’s not such as easy decision as it was pre facelift.
Unless you want a manual gearbox like Mark.

Apologies for going off topic but you’re completely right. I will be getting a DSG but it’s not really a no brainer anymore. I’ll wait and see what the Mk8 brings.
