clutch cable problem-1.3 ryder

i got into ma car to go out and pressed da clutch to start up and i herd a snappin noise from da clutch pedal! and da clutch went all free and loose. too da under tray from da dash off and luckily da cable jwas just unhooked, nwi dnt knw hw it fits 2geva! ders a plastic sleeve thingy dats most likely to be attached to da cable but it doesnt seem to go on cus of the hole which is too small!! please cud sum1 help me lol heres sum pics of wt im on abt...

Probably need to get a new cable, I doubt you'll be able to get it back together now.  Try Halfords, the last time I checked they were on clearance and cost me a fiver   If not GSF will sell you one.

cheers m8, so da cables cum wiv dat plastic thingy already on?? and hw wud i take da old one out?  hw do u open da bit under da scuttle panel near da wiper motors? thx

Yup all attached.  Removing the old one will be easy as its not attached at the pedal end!  Normally you loosen the locknut on the gearbox end of the cable and twist the plastic bit on the end to slacken the cable. Then unclip all the bits holding it to the gearbox lever (actually you better check its all still there and not all over the road!)

To take the scuttle tray out first take the rubber seal off the front, then lever off all the little metal clips at the back.  Watch it as they like to ping off and disappear!  Don't worry if the tray gets broken when you remove it, you can buy a new one from VW which is made of a stiffer plastic that wont break.  Now all you need to do is pull the cable through and thread the new one in

bought a new cable today and fitted it, easy to do, and now da clutch is easier and better, cheers m8
