Was cleaning the car yesterday, and I decided to give the undercarriage area a bit of a clean to get off the worst of the winter salt. I was really quite surprised to see quite a bit of corrosion on the edges of the rear wishbones, where it looks like the gloss black paint has flaked off, bottoms of the shock absorber mounts and most worryingly, quite a bit of corrosion on the rear brake back plates (around the outer edges). I could understand this if my car was 6 or 7 years old, but it's not even 2 years old until May ?
Obviously I only have the car another month or so before the GTI turns up but was wondering what to do (if anything) to prevent this happening again ? I was toying with the idea of getting some clear lacquer spray and when I detail the new car on collection, coat the major black painted parts with the lacquer to give it some extra protection.
I know this area generally can't be seen, but it still bugs me. Any ideas ?

I'll try and get some photos up later to show you what I mean.
