Buy as late a model as you can afford as they had the best spec and more chance of still having some factory warranty.
Don’t get overly hung up on spec, unless there’s something you can’t live without,being flexible on spec will allow you a much broader choice of cars.
They’re well specced as standard, ride well, have front and rear sensors, folding mirrors, dual zone climate, xenons, self dipping rear view mirror, rain sensor and a few other things that generally tend to be options on other German cars plus the radar cruise control you desire.
The only cars not to have the latter were the very first batch of dealer demo cars and VW press fleet GTI’s on a 13 plate.
