Can anyone recommend a car cover?
« on: 06 January 2018, 20:18 »
Hi all,

The Golf is going to be tucked up for 4 months very soon and whilst it will be inside the garage, I still think it's a good idea to get a car cover for it.

Doesn't need to be waterproof as it'll be inside, but I reckon a 'breathable' one is a must. Would prefer cotton/fleece lined too. I realise the downsides of car covers when they're outdoors but it should definitely help indoors.

Found this on amazon... https://www.amazon.co.uk/Waterproof-Cotton-Scratch-Durable-Cover/dp/B01H1JVAA6/ref=sr_1_8?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1515268562&sr=1-8&keywords=car+cover
... which I think should do the job but the discrepancy in sizes between the title and description worry me slightly.

Also, I need next week!

Ta in advance.

Looks like it gets really poor reviews and also the size issue has meant I've kept looking. Does this look a better bet?

I had a metex indoor car cover as a present. Not used it yet car is dirty but they get some good reviews online. Its like a big blanket that drapes over the car.

100% this. For only 4 months there's nothing more required. I'd be tempted to even leave it as it is especially indoors. These are modern cars, they don't need cossetting like classics do.

Don't waste your money on fancy covers.

This is the type I have for my Mk2 Golf. It's a good fit and has underbody fixing straps, so doesn't move about. It has mirror pockets too, which will fold in with foldy mirrors.
Red Mk6 gone replaced with a white Mk7 which has gone too. Green Mk2 here to stay.

I can highly recommend https://www.classicadditions.com they make great indoor and outdoor car covers, most are semi-tailored so offer a great fit but flexibility to use on multiple vehicles.
