The 7z001 to 7z007 are the numbers for a multipart 7 zip file that is spanned into chunks. 7 zip puts them together to extract all the data from inside the archive. Just in case you wondered.

Basic Nav reads the map data directly off the SD card so once it's in the car it doesn't actually do anything inline the pro version which is uploaded to the hard drive.

Has anyone managed to update the maps via car-net??

Is that a listed method? Anyway, car-net is a bit flaky in my experience.

It's quite a long job, using a laptop and fast internet connection, so a car-net update, even if possible, would not be practical, imo.

I’ve seen the option to update maps but no joy so far.

I tried to update using Car-net by using the home Wi-Fi while parked on the drive.
After about 2 hours it indicated I had updated Southern England but it doesn't show the new A5/M1 link road so I suspect it hasn't updated.

Not sure new roads works like that. It's all dependant on when the map provider updates new roads/estates properly. If they don't then no matter what you do it still won't show new places.

Even the "new" maps when we get them are months out of date. Roads missing, speed limits that have been changed, etc. There are a few times I have apparently been driving through a field .
