Roof bars (long term)

Hi

As the title suggests, has anyone had roof bars fitted and left them on the car for a few months or more? Did you have any damage to the paint or rubber door seals?

We have a 3 door so want to fit once and leave on all summer due to effort, and the rear window seal being pulled about too much with constant fitting and removal. However I have seen a horror on a USA site of paint coming away with the bars on removal.

We didn't get any 3m tape with the new bars should I fit some under the feet? Or is this overkill?

You get a clear sheet of some sort of plastic with the Thule ones. I've never used it.

I've not ever left mine on for a really long time, but after a couple of weeks it is a bit scary removing the bars...

I guess Thule provide the sheet thing for a reason.
