Map POI's

So how does it work? Where do I get and how do I install the extra POI's? Links?

That's the old way, there is a new way I think for MIB2 using CarNet - maybe someone else can help...

You don't have to use car net to upload poi's and while there may be more than 10 the unit will only allow you to select 10 icons.

Just to clarify, using the method Chris (McMaddy) mentions above (the same method I do), you can certainly load more than 10 individual POI categories on the system at the same time (I have around 25 on my Nav Pro), however (and this is the key point), the system will only allow you to show 10 out of however many you have loaded on screen at the same time.

So to show another category not already displayed, you need to untick one of 10 that are currently displaying to make room for it. TBH, I think it's a good idea otherwise the screen would be covered in POI's (especially when zoomed out a little) and you wouldn't be able to see anything really.

Ahhh yes, POI's displayed on the map... not POI's you can search and navigate to!

Thanks guys, the: "Go to Navigation settings and find the Update/Import POI option" which I deducted after all the comments is what answers my question. I had a quick look at it an hour ago and indeed there's an option to update POI's via an SD card so first part is done.

Second thing is to find the POI's I'm actually interested in. Ideally I'd like to be able to find any small shop's/company's address (big ones are already included as stock) much as I can do via Google Search.  I know this is impossible but at least to get close to that. I guess some searching on POI suppliers will help but if anyone has good suggestions on sources of such POI's they are welcome 

I also saw the 10 category limitation. My question is if I search for a POI, belonging in a category that is currently un-checked will it show up in the results or not? If it does it's ok, I don't want to see everything on the map at all times but if not I guess I'd have to make sure which 10 categories are active every time depending on the POI I'm searching?

PS. Fredgroves posted at the same time as me and I guess that answers my last question. If it is in the system it will show up in search results regardless of whether its category is checked for showing or not, right?

Ahhhh so you want to load a list of non-mainstream businesses for the UK in? Eeeek that sort of data isn't readily available - if it was it would be advertisers gold dust.

I don't think you could even hoover google maps for it using one of the Google API's.

Well, almost as you say. So I was looking for a big furniture store the other day (no, not IKEA) which is in my town but only the stores of Stockholm (of the same company) were in the system and that would be a very long drive... So in principle not every small enterprise, back road garage but rather a comprehensive list of types of places that are already in the stock POI list, but expanded to the entire Sweden, as opposed to just Stockholm (mainly).

Would you not be best going online if that is what you want to search for?
That would be in the 100,000 surely. Plus businesses change all the time.

EDIT: Didn't see your post above until I'd posted. Obviously if its just Ikea it will only be a few. You'd probably be quicker putting them in your favourites.
