Leased Golf R with dash cam question?
« on: 07 July 2016, 19:15 »
So... When I get my new R in a few weeks I'm interested in fitting a dash cam because Berkshire houses some of the worst drivers in the UK!

Halfords will professionally install this as well for £30 which I don't mind paying but the cam gets wired up to the ignition as part of this service.

I need to check this is allowed with a lease car (i don't see why not) but if anyone here has done the same with a Lease I would be interested to know or would you recommend just cabling as best as possible to plug into the lighter socket?

If the cam is wired professionally as above, is it then easy to remove when the lease is up?

My GTi isn't on a lease but I fitted my dash cam via a fused piggyback holder into the fuse box. Everything is hidden and easily removed if need be

They don't mind as long as removing it won't leave damage.

They also don't mind if you leave it behind either - I fitted tow bars to several of my previous cars and they cared not one jot when I handed them back with it still fitted.

The lease companies only chuck them straight to auction anyway.

Thats good to know, thanks! I still think its prudent to inform them as different companies may have stricter views but knowing it should be ok is a start.

Hi, which fuse did you piggyback onto?
