Afaik it does have them. Why should it have alarm gone off on yours now?
Brakes can last quite some time, doubt mine will be changed at next service (due in 8-9k miles and I already did 103k in the car).

Longest I've ever gone previously is 2 years, cars nearly 3 now, I was told I have about 1k left last service and that was nearly 3k ago so... Just curious, don't wanna damage the discs if I can get away with it

If it's anything like mine the discs look in a worse state than the pads after 14000 miles lol.

All depends on how you drive I suppose - the brakes & discs in my MKIV needed changing at a bit over 100K miles. The ones on the MK7 are bigger. I'll be disappointed if they don't last 60K.
