Looking at 1.6 tdi DSG...bluemotion tech? or non bluetech? + dsg reliability?

as the title says really, looking for a mk6 1.6tdi in dsg but some have bluemotion tech and some don't? I see the bluemotion tech ones have better MPG but why? what differences do they have? same engine code or? because I've seen 2011 ones with and without bluemotion tech.
 
Also how is the DSG on these cars? I understand it's a 7 speed, I have a 6speed dsg in my mk6 gti and the mechatronics unit is gone downshifts and upshifts in the space of a second   
Wondering if the 7speed dsg in these diesels are problematic? how do they respond to tuning. I'd be looking to delete DPF and have a map done. make it slightly pokier.

Bluemotion Tech has stop start and regenerative braking which makes it more economical in the test lab.

If you are looking to get more performance, I'd buy a 2.0 140. I had a 1.6 BMT for a couple of weeks a few years back. I did the same sort of journeys and drove it just the same as my 2.0 and got exactly the same mpg. The 1.6 may be slightly more economical in town, but on rural roads there is nothing in it. The only saving the 1.6 would offer is cheaper VED.

As for DSG, my Passat has done 60,000 miles now and been faultless, so I guess it's the luck of the draw. The internet is full of tales of woe, but hardly any stories about how good things are. There will be hundreds of thousands of 6 and 7 speed DSG's that will have been as reliable as mine.

Plus bear in mind that to do a remap you have to remove the ECU; majority of the 2.0TDI's can be mapped via the OBD

my mates got a 1.6tdi and hes done the dpf and map, saw 150bhp on the dyno, to be honest I dont want the insurance headache or increased premiums, I might just look into getting a 1.4 tsi 122, I do 45 miles a day and the petrol with a 7 speed dsg will be smooth and have less problems I think? plus the 1.4 122 maps to around 145 anyway!

I was looking at the smaller engines because I save £650 on insurance by opting for the smaller engines!!

They make that sort of power WITHOUT DPF removal 

Equally bear in mind that the 1.6's are affected by the emissions scandal and it will at some point go in for a software update and new injectors (should you wish to do so of course)

I'd shop around the insurance companies as I reckon you could insure a 2.0TDI for close to the 1.6

Have you driven a standard 1.6?? I'd rather walk

£650 cheaper!!! Jeez, my 2.0TDI costs me £180 all in.
