Options on a new GTD

I'm going to order a new GTD 5 door for March delivery and I'm not sure about a few of the options. The options I'm sure about are the camera, high beam assist, and car net app.

The ones I'm not sure about are

Sound and sport pack doesn't change the sound of the car on the outside and I will probably be getting a Milltek exhaust anyway.

Voice activation for audio, I use an iPhone 6s so I'm guessing this isn't needed because I can do the same with Siri.

Tech pack, I will be using Apple maps for navigation and I don't need to play DVDs so it the discovery pro and audio upgrade worth it?

DCC, the normal suspension seems to be okay and the £830 would probably better spent on some suspension mods and anti roll bars instead.

Pan roof, I don't see the point in a sunroof unless you can have it open but I have been told that the roof on the golf is very noisy and there is a lot of wind buffeting at anything over 50mph, is this true?

Also I purposely don't want to upgrade the wheels because I will use the 18" wheels for winter tyres. I have already bought a set of Pertoria alloys and I will transfer my Michelin pilot cup 2 tyres that I have on my car at the minute.

Anyway, any thoughts would be welcome.

I've ordered a GTI for March delivery and like you I've added high beam assist, camera and car net app because they are basically cheap options.
I originally ordered the tech pack but after some consideration, I changed  it to just Dynaudio, saving nearly £700.
I liked the idea of the 8'' screen but have no use for built in storage and a dvd player and a bit more file support.
I'd sooner buy a iPhone 6s plus with the money I've saved.
I think if you stick to the standard 18'' wheels, you won't need the adaptive suspension as the standard ride quality is supposed to be excellent. I also think the Nogaro's look great
Sunroofs are nice but I don't care for the look of the one on the Golf personally.
It's all down to budget and what options are worth the money in the end really.
Whatever you decide to do I'm sure the car will look the business

If I did any kind of mileage the GTD would be my car of choice.
My A3 170 TDi was a beast of a car so I imagine having 184bhp and all that torque would be very nice indeed

The Sport & Sound pack is misdescribed in the brochure and has been for years - it suggests that it is just the 'soundaktor' device that is attached to the firewall of the car

In real life, it consists of red painted brake callipers all round (normal GTDs are silver metal), and there is also a redesigned exhaust system, with no rear silencer, but an active noise generator/sound cancellation device instead. You can hear a fair rumble externally, and is switchable as well

Thanks for the replies. I didn't know that the actual exhaust was different with the sport pack so I suppose it will be better to have it in that case.

I'm the same with the built in nav, at least it will be a good update to the RNS510 that I have at the moment.

In between trading in my Mk7 GTI and picking up my R and the dealer loaned me a GTD with the sport and sound pack. It would do my head in as it is far noisier than my R in Race. Fortunately you can turn it off but that defeats the object of having it in the first place

I found the R much louder than our GTD in Race mode. The GTD exhaust certainly sounds nicer

Not sure if the latest GTDs have a user adjustable level of sound from the soundaktor and generator, but even if not, a quick 5 minute adjustment with VCDS works on both independently (I've turned my soundaktor almost to nil)

So you turned down the soundsktor but left the bit in the exhaust alone?

Do it! Cheap and fun! If I had know what this forum has taught me since ordering mine, I'd have slapped this on in a heartbeat!

You get it on navpro, I have it... whilst its useful in that you don't have to take your hands off the wheel, I find that you are spending lots of time looking at the head unit trying to guess wtf its saying. I don't think I'd pay for it as a costed option.

Its a bit of a steal if you think you might use the nav (the nav pro is better and the now enhanced online functions should make it excellent) and Dynaudio is by all accounts excellent. The pack is good value.

Since cars came with air con, I've never wanted a sun roof. Since then I've never got into a car with soaked seats either. Wouldn't order this ever.

Now that I know exactly what is with the sport and sound pack I'm going to get it, if and when I get a Milltek they can add the exhaust bit of it.

As for the tech pack I wouldn't be ever using the built in nav because I'm sure it can't compare with what is on offer from Apple or Android. Plus I don't use nav that often.

DCC, I have it at the moment and I don't find it that useful or should I say not as useful as a set of updated/aftermarket anti-rollbars and possibly a set of coil overs although it would total a bit more in the end.

I'm almost the same as you as regards the roof.

The 18" wheels look good but I prefer to keep things OEM, at least on the outside so the wheels would have to be VW
