Waxstat

My mk2's carb has been playing up for a while... It is very temprimental and has been ideling between 2000-2500. It sometime drops back down to 1000 after the engine warms up. But most days it just stays in the higher range, reguardless of how long I'm driving for. I'm thinking the waxstat has packed in. And I'm resenting paying 80£ for a replacement, is it worth paying to replace. Or should i just do away with the pierburg and go for a Weber.

Or if anyone can point me in the direction of where I could get a s/h or cheaper waxstat replacement that would be even better haha.

Ditch the Pierburg and fit the weber. Its a five minute job (I did one in Halfords carpark) and makes a world of difference.

Hmmm. Two other people have recommended this although I'd much rather stick with the pierburg if possible. Trying to weigh out both sides, as buying a Weber is currently 100£ more expensive of the two atm. Decisions, decisions. :undecided:

Is that second hand or new? I bought mine second hand but don't remember the price as it was ten years ago, it was certainly less than a ton and worth every penny.

250/300 odd for a new one. I'm trying to source a s/h one but to no avail atm. My car has actually been running fine the past two days ahaha. But I know that won't last.
