MIB II with Digital Boost Gauge
« on: 20 September 2015, 11:09 »
Noticed some of the very latest GTI/R models, fitted with Discover Nav, are being delivered in the US having software in the MIB II that displays digital gauges showing Boost pressure, Accelerometer and a Power meter(KW).

Accessed by pressing CAR Button, then touch screen 'Selection' then 'Sport'.

Hopefully a software update or VCDS adaptation if necessary.

I've seen that this morning on golfmk7 forum as well from the US guys. It was about time VW would put this in their performance cars, Renault have had this for a couple of years in their Megane RS range (the system is called RS Monitor).

I doubt it will be just a simple software update. There must also be some kind of electronic components that are able to read and interpret the OBD2 signals and display the results on screen. Either way it's an interesting "to have" thing on the GTI, to say the least.

Nah, perfectly possible for the nav/media system to query the canbus and receive data. It already does for several of its functions.

This is just the sort of childish gadget we all need in our lives.
Hopefully someone can unlock the secret of getting it on MIB I too.
I'd like this even in low res MIB I flavour.

It's not exactly of any real use having a digital boost gauge way down out of your line of vision as you hit full throttle out of a sharp left hand bend but...

... well your passengers could appreciate it I guess!  :nerd:
