Having picked up an old oil burner today, rear wiper.Plus the  front screen wash not working. I've checked fuses, could it be a relay?  Any help appreciated.

Could be wiper motor gone. If the pipe has popped off then chances are the water has then corroded the wiper motor

Ah right!! Yes then I think there is a relay within the fuse box. The card on the inside of the fuse box cover should tell you its location :)
