Gearbox overheated
« on: 13 August 2015, 22:46 »
Hi guys, I was out tonight dropping my brother home. 3-4 mile trip each way. On the way back I thought I would have a go at getting a better 0-60 time as I was running a different map on my DTUK box. Went through the procedure, but as I put my foot on the go pedal I had a warning flash up on the MFD saying gearbox overheated.

This is the first time the warning was ever come up, surely that can't be coincidence after fitting the box 2 days ago? The run today was the only launch I have done today and my car was sat for a good 4-5 hours before I drove my brother home.

Is this something I should be worried about?

If you are doing a number of launch control runs in succession I wouldn't be surprised, also if you have sh!tstones on you car it sometimes confuses things as the wheel spin you get on the front sometimes confuses the box

He said on a few occasions when doing a launch control the car will bounce of the limiter in 1st gear & will only go into 2nd when he lifts off ,revo are aware of the problem & said better tires help & not to worry it's just the gearbox protecting itself.
