Genuine Mk1 golf NOS front panel series 1 or 2?

Hi,

I have this soon to be for sale Mk1 Golf NOS Genuine complete front slam panel.

Is this a series 1 or 2? it does have '78 written on there but not 100% sure. does it make any difference?

I paid an absolute fortune for this many years ago from the Icelandic car club locally dont need it anymore as i ended up getting a mk2.

this is not a specific for sale thread so please dont move me just want to know if its s1 or s2

Interesting, I thought they were the same! My slightly educated guess is that this is a later GTI front panel, as it has the RH vent cut out, so, Mk1 series 2
Early panels had RH vent blocked off, the later panel was unblocked, but you could buy a plastic filler panel to restrict the airflow for a smaller engined car
