Excessive Tyre Wear

The garage (Breese Poole) said there was nothing wrong with the tracking.

How do they know?

They would have to set the equipment up on your car and this would be chargeable.

Typically you can tell if the wear is down to tracking/alignment because the edges of the worn part will have feathering and may appear to be slightly blue... Also, wearing the middle of the tyre would be unusual for poor alignment it would be a strange setup that wore the middle of the tyre - alignment almost always affects one side of the tyre or the other. Without the the OP saying the pressures were checked regularly I would have bet on over-inflation of the tyre in question. I doubt buckled wheels would cause this issue...

To the OP. When driving the car does it drive straight? Does it brake and accelerate in a straight line? Do you feel any unusual tugs through the steering under braking? Does the steering feel over heavy? How is the car on turn in? etc.

Also, how do you check tyre pressures? Do you use your own gauge or the one on the air-line at the garage?

Thanks for the replies in particular from Corgi.  The car drives straight and brakes and accelerates in a straight line and there is no tugging or heavy feeling through the steering and the car seems normal on turnin. I always use a calibrated tyre pressure gauge and check the pressures at least once a month.  My first set of Bridgestones wore out on the front after 11,400 miles but the wear was even on both tyres. It's only the replacement set that I have had the problem with.

My Bridgestones wore down at around 13,000 miles at the front, Replaced with Goodyears which so far have lasted about 16,000 miles.

Wish to god the rears would wear down awful sh!t Bridgestones, so much noise from them, VW refuse to change. I am hammering the car about to wear them down. Was thinking of changing to them on the front and wheelspinning everywhere, however the GTD seems to not be able to fully turn off traction control!!

I would have put the part worns on the front anyway to get rid of them quicker - even without hammering it everywhere, the fronts will definitely wear quicker than the rears.
