Boot not locking

Evening all, I've just noticed that my boot has stopped locking with the central locking. Iv taken off the cover inside the boot nothing has come loose and had a little play around with the solenoid and it moves freely by hand.  Does anybody have ideas what could be the problem? im hoping just knackered solenoid.

How freely? I thought the solenoid should be stiff to move? If not maybe the wiring on the bend from roof to boot

Fairly freely, I can move it ease to put it in the lock position. I have no idea how long it's been like it

Just do away with the solenoid and use the key! Take the solenoid off and get 2 lengths of wire(power probe if you've got one then put them across your battery
