Big bumper slider bracket
« on: 26 April 2015, 23:04 »
I'm trying to find some big bumper slider brackets, but originals not the repo's. The slider bracket on my rear bumper had failed so now it sits slightly low on the left and doesn't square up with the body work. I've searched around and loads are coming up, but there all the wrong type. The brackets on my bumpers screw on to the bumper but thru the centre of the bracket as it has a diamond shaped recess for the screws to sit in, where as all the replacement slider brackets I've come across get screwed to the bumper by the 4 corners of the bracket, so obviously aren't going fit proper. I've had a butchers around the local scrappers and its the same old story. Does anyone know where I can get these brackets?
(Sorry i haven't put a pic up, camera on't fone is nakered)

You can call me names if you like, but those brackets look like they will do the same job...
It's a mk2. Fill it, drive it, enjoy it.

Buy the brackets You can find and just mod to fit. Two of the screws are in the right place, just cut a hole in the other ones and pack the gap.

if you drill 2 new holes and countersink them it should work fine.

I had this problem, so I cut the mounting points off them both and plastic welded the genuine part onto the repro so the mountings lined up. Then small self tappers to fix to bumper :)
