Low Battery Warning
« on: 15 May 2015, 18:45 »
Just interested if any of you have had a low battery warning displayed. I have over the last month seen the message a few times which also displays on the media screen please start car as battery is low and then turns off the radio.

I even tried a battery charger over night, but the warning still gets displayed. GTi is 18 months old

I have had it a few times as my dash cams are recording 24/7 and it shows if I leave the car for three days or so. Any longer than that and I would unplug then until I use the car next.

I started one a while ago as mine does the same. Maybe what's in there might help you. Mine is not a daily driver so can sit in the garage during the week so can kinda understand my issue but I use the helpful option to check the exact percentage to make sure I am ok.

James

Thanks for the information, I do have a DTUK box fitted but I think I must just not be driving it enough to fully charge the battery. This morning SOC was at 10% but after a run for approx 1.5 hrs it had gone up to 40%.

If you got a DTUK box fitted and the car doesnt get used much....im pretty sure you will find the box is your problem. Even with the ignition off the DTUK box is powered up and is powering the 3 sensors its connected to.

I had this exact same problem.....my DTUK box is now connected to a ignition switched supply in the AUX fuse box in the engine bay.....ive never had the problem again.

When I say ignition switched....the DTUK must be powered up before the engine cranks and not loose supply whilst cranking like many power supplies on the MK7 do......or else you will end up with an engine malfunction light on after x3 engine starts.

Thanks
Ken
