Updated DTUK software for MK7 GTI and R
« on: 15 February 2015, 21:16 »
Just a heads up to anyone currently using a DTUK tuning box, we're currently testing a couple of new files for the 7R which will be available within the next couple of weeks to any customer who purchase their system direct from ourselves.

We've taken on board feedback from customers and have taken the original map 3 (the favoured map), which is currently very smooth and progressive. Customers requested if we could create something a little more urgent, and responsive in the lower rpm range, and after several weeks of testing were confident that we've created just that..

This software will be available for both the original FSR (jumper adjustments) and the newer FSR+ (push buttons)

For the guys running both the box and pedal box, all I can say is that this new software "feels" as strong as using both kits.

Some feedback from a Skoda owner who's running the tweaked software on his 220ps Octavia

Tried 3+1, 3+2. Both impressive, although 3+1 was a little underwhelming.  3+2 certainly put a smile on my face. However 1+2 is out of this world. Feels much more responsive. 3rd gear gives the shove that 2nd used to give, but right up to 90 mph! Everything I'd hoped for and more

Hi Andrew, are there any similar tweaks imminent for the diesel, or perhaps they are not relevant to the diesel power curve?

I'm having my car serviced this week and will be putting a box on after this, so expect an order in the next couple of days!

I have one of the early DTUK boxes for my mk7 GTI. Can this same box be used on the R.... Maybe putting an order in on Sunday.

I did also message you a while ago, my box is currently off the car. Can it be reflased with latest software for the GTI? If so can you pm you address and I will post it this weekend.

Thanks in advance

I've just tried the updated software out and have to say it certainly seems a bit more feisty than before in the mid-range.
It was a nice sunny afternoon and my friend had his company GTI for the weekend which is insured for all sorts of modifications so we took my standard GTI out for a spin while his cooled down then plugged in the box to his GTI plus my PedalBox (well, it was still a bit warm in the engine bay so we thought it rude not to go the whole hog) and then took his GTI out on the same road we'd just driven mine.

What to say? The power seems to come in earlier than on the previous map (which admittedly I'd not used for some time as I was laid up with a flu-bug for a couple weeks then spent the next couple catching up with work so I'd not had access to my friend's GTI which has the FSR harness attached) and the mid range seems lots more perky than standard. We didn't go ballistic as it was a) public roads and b) Sunday so quite a lot of slow moving stuff about but as a quick back to back with a standard car the box with revised software was much more enjoyable to drive, no snatching or any other undesirable on/off boost situations like some aggressive remaps I've experienced in the past. Just smooth and linear like the factory map but lots more of it.
I ran it on 1 + 2 as that was what it was on before so not sure what gives the best result but it certainly felt lively enough!

I've asked to borrow the car mid-week to give it another shakedown when there's less traffic about. And am looking forward to that!!!

I purchased one of the early boxes from another forum member and am very happy with the results. I've always had remaps in the past but would definitely buy a tuning box again.
Hardly any additional traction issues and the power delivery is very smooth, the speedo just seems to fly and you're at silly speeds before you realise it.
Can't comment on MPG yet as only done a few hundred miles.
Current - Mk7 Golf GTI w/performance pack
Previous - VW Golf Mk6 GTD, Ford Fiesta ST, BMW M135i, VW Golf MK5 GTI

In terms of MPG you're better off calculating it by hand. The MFD will be fooled into giving a better reading. Mine (GTD) over reads by about 10%
