Getting boot ready for stereo install and did something stupid

Hi guys

In order to remove all the boot carpet I had to remove some of the trim along the side of the boot up to and to the side of the back seats (5 door). I had to undo the bolts for the seat belts (2 on each belt). I went to put the bolt (the one next to the side of the rear seat) back in and started doing it up but it wouldn't do up so tried again, it went in further but still not properly. I took it out and it's cross threaded at the opening of the hole for the bolt and so it just won't go in properly now  And to top it off and this was being doubly careful I did it on the other side 
How can I fix this or who will do this sort of thing?
It's not mega urgent but I would like to get it fixed soonish.

if youve done the thread on one of the factory threaded items (be it a threaded plate or press nut)

then you have 2 options....

drill it (with correct size drill for item to be mentioned)
fit a HELICOIL of the same thread to that whats gone
then dolt up as normal.

or drill it the next size up ie: m3, m4, m5,m6,m8 and so on
dril the hole as per required by relevant tap (tool to make new thread)
then tap it (winding in clockwise, but backing off and reverse turning to remove cut thread waste, then continues and repeat until done)
then bolt it....

or for bodging, locite/alraldite simialr, mix, bang in the hole the wind nut in so it bites and get it going, dont over wind just till it nips.
then when solotuion cured nut should be tight

the last mentions one isnt one i would do if it were my car and i was keeping it...

the choice is yours!!

I would be inclined to either buy or borrow a thread chaser or a tap ( obviously of the same size and pitch ) and unless you've totally goosed the thread completely it should clean-up

Yeah try re tapping the origional thread 1st, youve got nowt to loose.

Thanks guys, I have a feeling retapping it to the same size will sort it as i've not forced it in or anything.
We'll see what happens, audio is going in tomorrow which is the main thing  and then I get those bolts back in

Remember it's a seatbelt mate you can't bodge it back in I'd be looking at getting it sorted proffesionally otherwise.......................

put a plate behind and use a suitable nut and bolt?

Yes a spreader plate and a bolt would be ok, it has to have the plate on the back if it is a seatbelt mount if not you will fail your MOT.
