Golf 1.8T concentric slave cylinder
« on: 19 February 2015, 17:29 »
Got a quote from Mrclutch for a clutch change on my mk4 1.8T. They've now said it's a further £85 to replace the concentric slave cylinder. Here's what their website says:

"At Mr Clutch we recommend fitting a new concentric slave cylinder whenever performing a clutch replacement in vehicles where these units are used. Failure to do so may cause damage to the new clutch, resulting in expensive rework."

This seems to be just an excuse to bump up the price for a part that is not malfunctioning and is easily replaced with the Gearbox in situ.

Any price advantage mrclutch offered has gone. Is replacement of the concentric slave cylinder recommended with a clutch change? If this is a preventative thing why not change the master cylinder as well - or is this is case of bumping up the cost by doing an easy to change part?

I wouldnt think this would need changing unless theres something wrong with it, probably a sales pitch more than anything .
