which key chip required, t5 or t10?
« on: 06 February 2015, 00:12 »
Hi folks,

A mate of mine has got a P reg 2.0 Gti and only one key. His has the immobiliser chip in the key and he has no idea of how to tell if one he buys to have cut to the car and programmed needs to be a t5 or t10. I have looked everywhere I can find on here to discover this but have had no luck so far.

Can anyone help?

Cheers,

muttley

A good key cutting firm will do the whole job and supply a key with a programmed chip already in it.

I had one done about 2 years ago,£25 all in,just gave them my original key.

It's the T5 (ID33) you need.

Where is your mate, I can program the transponder to his car if he has login code for immobiliser.

Thanks for the replies, he can get hold of a t5 chip key now and get it sorted. He is in Leicestershire, what will he need to code it in for the car? I've got VCDS and I'm sure he has got the codes for his car. I've never tried using VCDS for that so I have no idea if it is what is needed to sort it.

Cheers,

Mate that is absolutely epic.

I really appreciate you taking the time to show me how to do that, and my mate with the mk3 will be made up too.

It's going out of your way like this that really makes a forum, thank you so much buddy!
