Sill Protection
« on: 02 February 2015, 12:24 »
Afternoon,

I was looking for some sill protectors, I was considering the OEM ones http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=264460.10 and 3M clear vinyl when I came across these. Thought they might be of interest to some.

Better pics here

Ordered them and will post an update when I get the car/get them fitted.

They look pretty sturdy, practical rather than pretty and a much more sensible price than VW OEM ones.
It's funny but the pic shows a three door but they only seem to sell them for 5 door cars? Or is my Mac throwing a fit and missing links?

Edit to that: The pic shows a mk6 so that explains it! Specsavers here I come...

I have the VW ones (didn't pay for them) and they're actually really nice.

Granted, it's just thick, slightly rough vynal (think smoother skateboard grip tape, but I think it looks really good.

Mine:

I had the OEM vinyl style ones on my MkV and found the sill still got marked (as they are quite short) so went for functional over looks!

Same with interior mats, Weathertech to save dirt/water behind the pedals. Don't look as nice as OEM but do the job.

It's madness, I have always preserved my cars for the next owner :)

When I picked mine up last March I was told that the vinyl/Teflon ones weren't available for the 3dr so I had the OEM stainless Golf ones instead. They have been fine. I am thinking of getting the OEM Scirocco R stainless ones for the R if and when it comes.
