Sounds like a retrograde step in terms of service on offer to the customer

They say it is more profitable for them to go mobile, however I feel sorry for the employees in the branches who will probably lose their jobs. They will probably also lose a lot of costumers who would go to a branch to have their screen fitted rather than on the side of the road.

Oh yes I bet they will save a lot of money - which will not be reflected in their prices!

I'd suggest they think that the customer mainly wants mobile fitting, because it cannot be as effecient as having a workshop site.

How many windscreens can a single mobile fitter fit in one day?

It can only be worthwhile if they need to fit them mobile because they get less customers otherwise.

They also will still need warehousing and distribution, unless they have backed that off to a third party supplier?

According to the chap that fitted mine, they are quite busy this time of year, high demand of windscreens. He had fitted 4 windscreens (including mine) + 2 chip repairs on Sunday alone.

f**king 4x4s and lorries.

Got hit today again (lorry this time).... 10cm long crack from chip just on left edge on screen.

2nd windscreen only lasted 14k miles - despite VW emblem on it looking at size of chip it should not have cracked as badly...
