Shopping for a golf GTi, MK5 or MK6??
« on: 31 December 2014, 15:27 »
Hi, I'm sure this has been asked already and everyone will have they're opinions. I'm looking at buying a golf GTi in the spring. I've always wanted one so decided its time. My dilemma now is do I go for a MK6 GTi or MK5. If MK5 I'm thinking the edition 30. Also I'm looking for 3 door and there seems to be less MK6 3 door out there

Thanks for any input.

Welcome, depending on your budget have you considered a Golf R? not much more than GTi and a lot more power for the money.

Sorry my bad, I got my MK's mixed up. R32 was my initial plan until I changed jobs which now requires me to travel as before I had a company car

A really good spec'd and loved mk5 ED30 will be amazing fun to own, I'd opt for that over a mk6 GTI any day. As mentioned, a mk6 Golf R is a good buy as they're less common on the roads. Plus the power potential of the engine is incredible.

Moving over to Flickr, sorry for the broken picture links!

Thanks. I am swaying towards the edition 30. Going to give myself a couple of months to find the right one. Thanks.
