DSG upshift question
« on: 29 December 2014, 14:45 »
Hi there, I have a Polo GTI 2012 with the Auto 7 speed DSG gear box . Just had a quick questions regarding upshifting using the paddles

Would it harm the gearbox if you upshift slightly earlier than when the DSG normally upshifts when in full auto mode (e.g. going from 5 to 6 at 28/30mph or gear 7 when the engine is at 35mph)

I know there is no torque converter but looking to find the best driving style to look after the gearbox in the long term

Thanks

Why? If you are in full auto, let it be. You will end up labouring the engine upshifting too early anyway.  It's not going to come to any hard just doing its thang.
It's a mk2. Fill it, drive it, enjoy it.
