Looked down the route of taking the cheaper route for front lights for now.. instead of changing the whole unit to a xenon conversion...
Below is what I have found out...
Can you change the DRL's to LED?The DRL (h15) cannot be changed to a LED so your stuck with that horrible yellow halogen.. I heard that the bulb is quite unique to VW and there not a common type of bulb.. I believe it puts out a dim light during the "drl" period and then more power when its on full beam (because that is your full beam light) However I have seen that a company make the bulb in a white/blue effect which would be better! but have not tried...
Sidelight LED??The light next to the DRL (sidelight) is a w5w fitment and can be changed to LED I believe..
I have literally spent all day trying to get my hands in the gap and simply cannot for the life of me change it. Popped into a VW dealer and they quoted me £6 for a LED
(just bought 6x LEDS off ebay for £6.. ) BUT they will fit for free so looks like that's my only option.. £12 for labour and parts..
Puddle lights changed to LEDToo scared to try it myself I asked in the VW dealer and they quoted me £25 PER MIRROR
for the labour.. I heard whenever jobs with mirrors are in they order another mirror as they normally smash them anyhow.. Personally I believe the puddle lights that are in now are pathetic.. I was parked next to a 3 Series other day and that had a LED and the difference was unreal! Looked a much better quality of light given off.. Very unsure whether to bite the bullet and pay or whether to leave it and try myself..
