Finance question and opinions please.....confused!
« on: 25 September 2014, 14:21 »
Hi

My car has arrived at the UK port, and my dealer has offered to send a transporter down to collect it FOC for Monday delivery. We are on holiday from Mon for 10 days and wanted to collect on the 10th Oct, he then said that they needed 2 days min to process all the paperwork so it wold not be possible to collect the day after we return from holiday..... Our car would technically be 2 weeks old when we collect it because they will register it on Monday 29th Sept.
To me this all seems a bit odd and the sceptic in me is unsure of their reasons.
either
- Their desperate for another Sept sale? why I don't know i'm sure they've sold plenty in Sept? Could it take them on to another tier of sales increasing their discount on factory orders?
- They want to get us on the Q3 finance package, as Q4 is out on the 1st Oct, any may be a lower rate, reducing their kickback?

Any opinions?
Also If I take delivery in Oct will I have to take the Q4 finance offer or will the quote I received in July at point of order still be valid?
Is their a way of finding out the Q4 offers before Oct 1st?

Ben

Simple - they dont want to have their money sitting around tied up and may be linked to incentives

They are talking total rubbish saying 2 days to sort paperwork. At the end of the day it's your car so you tell them what day you want it. If they register it on 29th then you'll lose a full month come tax time next year. Only a small issue but it really bugs me.

As above. My dad's car was registered and available to collect within 6 working hours of arriving dockside the day before it was collected. In the grand scheme of things to you, the difference between \Sept pick-up and Oct pick-up will be pennies in residuals, and if yours is a GTD with a £20/30 tax disc it'll make not a lot of difference to missing out on 1/12 of your tax disc cost (are you GTD/GTI/R?). For them it should not make a difference either, they have 3 months to register that car and 4 months free credit from VW UK before the y have to pay for it (and have you pay for it). They're looking to meet a milestone target by registering yours earlier than you would like to be picking up.
Whey ya bugger! It's finally arrived after an 8 month wait....

For my sins it is a GTD... Went to buy a R! But thats another story.

I do to think it is them trying to meet a milestone figure which I assume is worth a lot of pennies to them? They are after a decision today, and awaiting my call....

I'm told our finance quote is valid till the end of the next quarter even if the APR on the next quarter is higher, but i'm going to ring VWFS this am to check.

I'm not going to ring the stealer and see how long before they call me? My turn to play hardball, if it is worth a lot of pennies to them I want something in return me thinks

I'd stick to your guns and tell them when you want your car registered and picked up. If it means that much to them then ask them for full tank of diesel, boot liner, roof bars etc etc etc.
