Haha your car is so close to how I would have mine. I am thinking 215 is probably ideal too, I mean, it is about double the original power.

The only real point I am still pondering is the gearbox. While the mk2 box fits and would make the conversion much easier (I would do it myself) the gears must be WAY too short. They feel short with 110bhp... So I guess a mk4 box it is.

An old worn rod change box will last about five minutes with a standard AGU engine.
You can rebuild it but for the cost its easier to get a hydro box from a 3 or 4

My pleasure.  Without being an expert, I'm told the mk2 box can work, but will become knackered due to the extra torque.  Mine has a mk4 box, the gear ratios are spot on.  215bhp is pretty healty in a sub 1000kg car!

I'd say my 20vt is a bit of a sleeper, it still has the 8v badge on!  I am insured through Adrian flux, £350 for 3,000 miles a year including commuting, 29 years old.
