just wondering whether the distributor on the mk3 golf is mechanical or electronic.

there's more than one engine  :whistle:

most are mechanical - exception are later VR6 engines

I think the OP means "points and condensor" which would be mechanical or "no moving parts" which would be electronic.

Yes the ignition is electronic, OP asked if the distributor is mechanical, which it is... unless it's not (late VR6 engines).
