aircon is upsetting me
« on: 18 August 2014, 18:17 »
Just had aircon regassed to notice a noise when I got home and realised I had a big ass leak from the big pipe at the front of the engine bay (one in the pic below with tape on - which likely did f**k all)

Is it an air con pipe?

Easy to replace?

I'm not 100% sure but I don't think you can do it without the necessary discharge/recharge equipment.

If it's leaked anyway just change it and get Mr Clutch to sort it for 39 quid.

Any issues straight back.

I had it regassed for £24 from groupon offer. Woked fine and now ita pissing out.

Will just leave it all to drain and change?

Is it easy or buy a new part amd get garage to do it?

You will need to get the pipe from the dealers and then get a specialist to replace it and regas the system

Do it yourself just make sure the other rings are in good nick.

Absolutely no point leaving it to a specialist if it has all leaked out. Double check by briefly pressing in the valve along the aircon line. They should have leak tested it though before filling!

So I take it wasn't leaking before you took it in?
Just get back on to the company that did and tell them its no better, explain about the leak and they will probably re do it when you replace the pipe
ARZ K03s, Oettinger Side Skirts, R32 front, Carbon stage 2, Forge 007p (yellow spring), Forge Actuator (yellow spring), Pipercross panel filter with DSG parts, N249 and N112 deleted, SAI deleted, Carbon canister deleted, Rear wiper deleted, Long Life turbo back custom exhaust with 200 cell sports cat, VR6/G60 clutch kit, Creation Motorsport TIP, Catch can, 'Wellycooler', K04 charge pipe, S3 ported inlet manifold - looks pretty standard on the outside though :)

As said, take it straight back to whoever attempted to re-gas it in this sorry state. Who fitted the tape?

I got it regassed because it was making noises and needed doing.

Didnt know it was because there was a leak.

I put tape on. Hissing was pretty loud and stopped it

It will be empty now in anycase if the pipe is holed, they should have also leak tested first.
