1.6 - 1.8T Conversion
« on: 17 August 2014, 19:51 »
Hello everyone, Brought a 1.6 Mk4 Golf for a total cost of £100 reason being the engine is no good 'Blow By' The engine is losing power due to worn piston rings or pistons. Anyway I'm thinking about doing an engine conversion with the 1.8T It's finding the right engine with the right internals for me to run around 200-250bhp I'm not too sure which engine I'm going to go for at the minute I'm kind of hoping to get some feedback from you guys? Looking to get the engine in full so loom + gearbox + ecu as well as the engine

Also I'm looking to see what else would I have to upgrade got a list in my head but I'm not too sure if I'm missing anything?

-Brakes
-Drive Shafts
-ECU + Loom
-Gearbox
-Engine mounts
-Tyres/wheels?

That's my list, If anyone has anything else in mind please post!

Thanks

I would buy a complete running 1.8t and swap everything over, so much is different that it would be easier.

as Wayne says just buy a 1.8T, insurance alone would make it a better option
ARZ K03s, Oettinger Side Skirts, R32 front, Carbon stage 2, Forge 007p (yellow spring), Forge Actuator (yellow spring), Pipercross panel filter with DSG parts, N249 and N112 deleted, SAI deleted, Carbon canister deleted, Rear wiper deleted, Long Life turbo back custom exhaust with 200 cell sports cat, VR6/G60 clutch kit, Creation Motorsport TIP, Catch can, 'Wellycooler', K04 charge pipe, S3 ported inlet manifold - looks pretty standard on the outside though :)

It would make sense to buy a 1.8T and insure it, but for the pure interest/hobby I have into cars I would
Like to do an engine conversion for the experience I'm not too fussed about money because it's going to be a slow project as well as buying the car for £100
