Steering Wheel Askew (a tiny bit)
« on: 13 August 2014, 17:11 »
I'm pretty anal about this, but I need the steering wheel to be exactly level when driving in a straight line, or it bugs the hell out of me.

My car had some major surgery a month after I got it (gearbox replaced), and I swear that since then, the steering wheel is a tiny tiny bit off level.. So tiny is the offset that most people I'm sure wouldn't notice, but it's starting to bug me.

Before I go to the dealer and ask them if they can sort it, could anyone confirm that when you are driving in a straight line on a flat road, does the dash under the dials line up precisely on both sides with the top of the spokes on the steering wheel (when shifting your head to line them all up)?

I can see a little more on one side than the other, and I can't remember if it was like that when it was new...

Thanks in advance!

Dead straight on mine. sounds like they had to mess with the steering rack and maybe it's out by a spline/tooth.
Whey ya bugger! It's finally arrived after an 8 month wait....

Mines slightly out too. I didnt opt for getting the dealer to fix this as the potential for things going wrong outweighs the improvement

+1

If it is a small amount they can adjust it out by setting the tracking with the wheel set to straight ahead...

Thanks for your responses guys - here it is, I reckon it's enough to warrant getting them to sort it out... Should be sortable with a quick tracking fix...

Maybe it looks a little worse there than it is, but I'll be dropping into the dealership to get it sorted for sure...
