Car got hit while parked-now oil light flashing.
« on: 09 August 2014, 12:07 »
Car passed mot and was subsequently hit while parked in the lower front drivers wing near the headlight. Headlight is ok and wing is scraped and dented(right by the light). But now the oil light flashes although it is full of oil...anyone know why it would flash after being bumped..? the car is an automatic so hope transmission is ok..(yikes....)

transmission is probably ok as it's on left side, ie passenger side on a RHD car.

reason for oil light could be that the wiring loom was damaged on the impact. or just coincidence and your pressure switch or oil pump was on it's way out and the knock just finished it off.

difficult to tell without having a look with my own eyes
