Bleeping from engine bay when switched off
« on: 13 September 2014, 15:33 »
Hi guys,

Noticed this a few times now, when I switch the engine off and get out of the car after a spin there's a soft beeping noise which sounds like it's coming from under the hood. In addition to the that fan is always on after any length of drive for a period of time after I shut her down.

Any ideas? The car's running fine, no warning lights etc.

Cheers

I don't know what the soft beeping noise is but my car does exactly the same. Very odd.

My car sounds like R2D2 when you open it or switch it off. All sorts of beeps, clicks & buzz' coming from under the bonnet.

I think it's normal. My Mk6 1.6TDI did it to a lesser extent too. I hear buzzes, high pitch chirps and other noise. Kind of like a subliminal dial-up modem type noise!

My mk6 does it my dealer contacted vw for me about it when it was new. It is normal but i cannot remember what it was something to do with throttle body I think.

My MK5, 6 and now 7 does it too. Especially after a spirited drive I've found. I assume it's normal whatever it is!

It may be the auxiliary coolant pump. It runs coolant through the turbo after you turn the car off so you don't have to let it idle.
