Apple car play not working

Hi, my girlfriend recently took delivery of a new 1.6 highline golf in Ireland, the dealer said apple car play was included in the car but we can't get it to work.
We have tryed using the genuine apple cable connected to the usb as well but still nothing.
When i click on 'app' on the radio it is saying that this feature is available through an activation key and to contact the dealer?

The answer is there already. Contact the dealer. It's not been included.

This means it hasn't been activated in the car - but at least it can be. Normally activation will require you to cough up the bones of €300 but seeing as the dealer told you the car had it, I'd be getting them to foot that bill.
