Hi all!

I'm thinking about ordering a GTD for company car and I've been reading the forum to see how other are getting on.
I currently drive a 3 series BMW (320ED) and my main concerns with the GTD are comfort and MPG.

In terms of MPG, as long i can get 45mpg it will be fine and cost less than another 320. I have been following the thread MK7 GTD - Real Life MPG religiously!
As for comfort, I recently drove a GTD (15 miles only) in decent roads so i didn't really got a feel for the suspension, as in how harsh it is... The bmw is OK as i haven't got run flats but i can feel some bumps etc.

I read mix reviews online, some say it's fine, some that it's quite harsh... what do you think??

I can only compare to an Audi A3 sportback S line that i drove recently and that was a very harsh ride!! Will the GTD be the same?

Thanks!!

My last 2 cars prior to the GTD were 170BHP TDi A3 S Line Quattro and the ride on anything resembling a rut was horrendous and though I loved the S Line style it just wore me down and so comfort was a major consideration for me as was mileage.

As you been following the mileage thread you will see you will be more than happy with fuel economy.

Colleague has a vanilla GTI and the ride is much better than the S Line though you do to a degree feel the bumps and ruts.

As comfort was such an issue for me took the option of DCC and it is luxury driving with all the bumps and ruts completely cosseted and without compromise to handling. Night and Day experience to the S Line and a real pleasure to drive around in.

This DCC is the version 2 which is active at all times no matter the mode.

Do not think you can go wrong with vanilla spec or DCC as it is not as if the standard ride is terrible but if really want comfort then DCC is a must have option.

As everyone says on here though much of this is subjective and there should be a load of GTI/GTD around to test drive now opposed to when we were all choosing out of brochures and websites so if really want to be sure go seek out a MK7 with and without DCC.

I have the DCC and do like to blast it along sometimes in the sport mode with the firmer setting, it is quite noticeable compared to normal mode and it is much flatter through the corners. On bumpy roads and when you are not in the mood it can be a little too much.

Normal is fine for most conditions, but you loose the sound effects when in sport.

Comfort is great when you are on taxi duty and want to give your passengers a smooth ride, although I had to switch it off and back to normal on a motorway recently as it was a bit to floaty, great for towns etc.

If your budget is flexible, I would get it and certainly will be ordering it on my next one when the 2 years are up.
