New Alloy refurb
« on: 11 June 2014, 15:25 »
Hi all,
I've had a new alloy refurb. Before they were painted, i've now had diamond cut. I think it looks better. They needed doing as my alloys were leaking tyre pressure from inner allow fast, so had to act quick. What you think? JP alloy in Cannock did them.

Look really good mate, I much prefer the diamond cut :) any closer up pics?

Just make sure to keep them well protected with a wheel wax or sealant to prevent whiteworm corrosion :)

Cheers mate. I like them much better. I'll try and get some new pics soon and thanks for letting me know about the whiteworm stuff.

I've got a big problem though. The main reason I've had them fully refurbed is because they were leaking tyre pressure from inner alloy. Now today, the same thing is happening and kwik fit showed me that the alloy is doing the same thing! I've obviously got to take it back to JP Alloy. Shouldn't they have checked that out? The bloke said the front right definatley needs resealing too? Confusing stuff really.

You could have a crack in the alloy? Which the refurb company may not have looked at, especially if it was just a colour change etc.

After refurb looks great. Just smash loads of sealant on them to keep them fresh!

Thanks! Nah it was full refurb. I took it back today they've found that the tyres had lots of the corrision paint of them in the inners that they didnt look at when fitting - so they've cleaned them up and monitoring to see if loses tyre pressure over night. Hope that fixes it!!
Which product do you recommend to put on them to prevent scratch and white worm? I really pleased with the job other than this annoying tyre pressure loss. It cost £460 though with a new tyre included - no not cheap.
Cheers

Poor boys wheel sealant. Make sure they are spotless first, then apply 3 generous layers. Dirt will just wash off with a hose pipe!
