I'd leave it on, or if you insist on ripping it out then make a heat shield out of something else decent.
Your turbo can get hot enough to glow (and if you remapped your car you're obviously going to give it some now and again... or always
)
But its their for a reason and protects all kinds of things from the heat! You know how close your downpipe is to your steering rack etc
