Just picked up a 2001, AUM engined GTi today. Silver, 5 door, totally standard apart from the odd scratch and ding.
Only done a hand full of miles to get it back and test drive last night and have to say for a 13 year old car it feels pretty good. Got extensive history including most MoT's, receipts etc.
A couple of bits to tidy up and sort out over the next little while i.e. Noisy Starter (Dragging i think) and an EM light that popped up, car seems to run fine though, can't hear any hissing from split pipes, oil and coolant seem fine, and it wants boost no problem at all.
To that end I'll be on the look out for a recommended fault scanner either by garage or other means in the Portsmouth area very soon.
I'll leave some pics for now though,
