Sticky caliper that used to work in the range it was in, but now the pistons are sitting back on new pads and disks they are sticky. This causes the pad and disk to remain hot while the other side cools down. That, in turn, causes grab when you apply the brakes, It is gone in a split second as the other disk heats up. In my old A4 this was OK in the dry but would threaten you with a lane change at motorway speeds in the wet. Below 40 it was hardly noticeable. The cure is to refurbish or replace the affected caliper (usually nearside front).
Easy way to find the fault is jack a wheel up one at a time and spin it by hand to see if its binding. Its a common problem on mk4. Starter motors, wipers brakes and horn ect..........
