New member, New family motor, need new ideas.
« on: 19 March 2014, 14:51 »
Well after spending a lifetime around BMW`s, spending a fair bit of time at shows and owning my E36 for around 8 years now me and the Mrs decided to go VW and get a new 2nd car, a mk5 2.0 TFSI jetta sport. 200bhp.
the E36 is my weekend fun car still so the jetta needs to stay fairly sensible, day to day car.

I have a couple of pals who own Ed30`s and i cant get over what a great car they are and how much power they can squeeze from those engines.

One has recommended i go for a Map from APR, Seem to be good figures and it will apparently drive like normal when need be so the mrs is kept happy ,this is the kind of route i want to go down but are there any smaller engine mods i should consider before the map to get me rolling, intake mods and so on.

Any help would be great as im king of a VW newbie :)

Hi Rossi

I got my golf gti just before Christmas and I use it daily. I had it remapped a few weeks ago and went from 200 bhp to 259. I had a miltek cat back exhaust as well but the stock exhaust would have coped with the remap. I don't have any other mods apart from a pipecross air filter and a new dv valve. As I use it daily, it does drive like a 'normal' car but the acceleration is so much better and it is better on fuel now it has been done. I had mine done at Amd in Thurrock :)

Ello Missy! cheers for the info, yes a map seems to be the best thing for me to do by the looks of it, easy addition in power as well as the increased MPG. Seems the sensible thing to do :)

R-TECH remapping is a great . They are worth looking into , had my MKV GTI done there and all their feedback is positive.
