Fuel
« on: 24 March 2014, 17:32 »
My missus has been driving my car today and she put a tenners worth of unleaded in it,when she got home she said car was revving up so i jumped in and when you dip the clutch the revs were going upto 2000 then back to 800,so I took it out for a spin and decided to put fuel in so i went to the garage and put 40 quids worth of super in the tank and now it runs perfect no revving up.could it really be something easy as super instead of regular?????

Simple solution - don't let your wife put fuel in the car!

I've always put the cheapest sh!t I could find in. Then I decided to put a tank of Shell whatever expensive stuff is in it. Made very little difference, it felt like it started a touch easier, but no other noticeable difference. I wasn't expecting anything, but like I say, easier start but marginal.
It's a mk2. Fill it, drive it, enjoy it.

I use Super in my '89 GTI 16v. It was built for octane ratings >95 anyway, so Super can't do any harm.

The Tesco stuff is 99RON and only about 5p a litre more than standard unleaded.
